what are free testosterone levels in healthy men?
What is the ideal range for my free testosterone levels?
The study involved healthy men aged 19 and older without any significant medical issues related to the hypothalamus, pituitary, or testes and with normal physical exams. It excluded individuals with a BMI over 30, any severe or unstable illnesses, elevated liver enzymes, diabetes, or high creatinine levels. Men using hormone-related prescriptions or supplements were also not eligible, although those on stable thyroid or blood pressure medications were allowed.
How to interpret percentiles. The 97.5th percentile for free testosterone with a value of 943 in men aged 40-59 indicates that 97.5% of men in this age group have free testosterone levels below 943 pmol/L, while only 2.5% have levels above this. This percentile position suggests that a free testosterone level of 943 pmol/L is exceptionally high for this demographic.
